Christmas Vacation

Jared got a new job working at Axis 41 as a Content Strategist. He didn't start working there until January 5th and had his last day at Domo December 23rd. Which means we had almost 2 full weeks of family time. We didn't know what the work load or hours at his new job would be so we tried to soak up all the time together we could get.

Christmas morning we woke up to a couple inches of snow and it continued to snow throughout the day. Preston loves the mountains and frequently asks to go. The day after Christmas we decided to take an afternoon to play in the snow in the mountains.

He couldn't wait to go out so as we cleaned up breakfast Preston bundled up to play in the backyard. He's sporting his minion hat and scarf that my Aunt Denise crocheted for him. The minion was for the family reunion and the scarf was a Christmas present.

 Sierra loves watching her brother

One of the most beautiful sights is the mountains covered in a fresh blanket of snow

She fell asleep on the drive and wasn't quite ready to wake up.

A lot of the break was spent at home just being together and relaxing.

They still love the kitchen and will actually play together.

Since going to the dentist Preston loves to count teeth.

This is what happens when we take a trip to Ikea during nap time. She falls asleep in the cart drinking her bottle.

This sweet girl has discovered the joy of mixing.

Preston is still obsessed with note books. It started as him just scribbling. Then he would write lists like I do. Then it turned into lessons. One day I found him copying the drawing from his Thomas book.
Playing peek-a-boo. One day she'll learn her eyes are not on the side of her head but until then it's super cute.

How can you resist those cheeks and blue eyes.

A week of fun isn't complete without visiting Preston's favorite place, the Museum of Natural Curiosity.

It was impossible to get a good picture in the low light but she was just too cute as a pirate.

Despite our efforts our clothes did not stay very dry

On New Years Eve we went to a trial class of a new fitness preschool opening up in Lehi. Preston was excited to go but took a little while to warm up. The first 5-10 minutes he just stood there playing with his shirt until he decided it would actually be fun to do what they were asking him to do. He ended up having so much fun we went back the day after New Years for their second trial class.

A quick trip to Macey's. This is Sierra's first time in the car and she loved it!

When we got the kitchen for the kids we had planned on putting it upstairs in their room but after a couple days with it in the living room we decided it needed to stay near the big kitchen so they could continue to cook with us. This led to a bit of a remodel and decluttering to make room.

I typically like to leave Christmas decorations up until after New Years but we were just too anxious to get our house back in order. The smaller couch went to the basement and it was replaced with the two chairs to make room in the corner for the toy shelf. Since we were at it we decided it was time to brighten things up and get rid of the dark red curtains we had been wanting to replace. We love how the room is much brighter and more open. Now we are officially ready for the new year and new adventures.
