Preston loves that Daddy rides the train to work. He's been asking us for months when we could all go on the train together. We finally had a free Saturday to take a trip to Salt Lake on the train. When we got down there we visited the capitol building, enjoyed the beautiful weather, and ate lunch at Rich's burgers.
We took the train because we knew Preston would love it but it turns out Sierra had a blast. They both loved sitting in the big seats and looking out the window.
Sometimes I wonder why we even bring a stroller when neither of the kids want to sit in it. At least it keeps them entertained by pushing it around
Preston loves his "running" shoes. He's going through a phase where he just wants to run and run. As he runs he looks down to watch how fast his shoes are.
We all loved the old style elevator
Walking around like a big girl holding Daddy's hand
Running in circles
After a self guided tour of the capitol we walk until we found somewhere that looked good to eat. We ended up at a burger place called Rich's. They were some incredibly tasty burgers.
Riding around in a stroller is exhausting
As we finished lunch we realized the train would be leaving in about 20 minutes. The train only runs every hour so if we miss this one we would have to entertain the kids who were already in desperate need of a nap one more hour. We quickly packed up and got to the bus station around the corner.
When we got there the schedule revealed that the bus was not supposed to get there until after the train should be leaving.
The train station was a little over 1 mile away and we had just over 10 minutes. We looked at each other with that look of "we can make it." We made sure the kids were secure in the stroller and we took off running. This is when we were both grateful for all our half marathon training. As we rounded the corner we and the station came into view we noticed the train was not yet there and according to our watch we had 2 minutes left. We took a quick breath and kept running. It would have been devastating to have the train come and go while in our sight.
We made it to the platform and there was still no train. Jared checked the schedule again when I looked at my watch and realized just how crazy we were. We thought for sure we could run over a mile in 10 minutes, without running shoes, through stop lights, and pushing an 80 lb stroller. The crazies part is that we were right. One of the things I love most about running is pushing my limit and seeing just how much I can accomplish.
It turns out we had the schedule wrong and we had 20 minutes to spare.
The train ride home was almost as fun as the ride there. Sierra was exhausted and was either very happy and giggly or mad about any little thing. She switched between the two without warning
We pulled out the veggie straws to keep both kids happy. Sierra decided it was funny to feed them to Preston. He was such a good sport and ate whatever she put in his mouth while they both giggled about it. Until she started sucking on them then feeding Preston a soggy chip. He wasn't a fan of those.
